Assurance Services

D+H Group LLP provides a full spectrum of credible financial information services to meet client needs (audit, review, special assurance engagements, compilation, bookkeeping). Our approach to assurance and accounting services emphasizes an in-depth knowledge of each client's business, of prevailing conditions in the industry of the client, and of the competitive position of the client. Auditor Oversight

D+H Group LLP is a participant in the Canadian Public Accountability Board's ("CPAB") oversight program and is registered with the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (United States) ("PCAOB"). As such, D+H Group LLP can serve as auditors of Canadian public companies, Canadian private companies that are planning to go public, and Canadian public companies seeking registration with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC"). We also have experience assisting U.S. companies to become reporting issuers in Canada.

Both CPAB and PCAOB are charged with maintaining public confidence in the auditing profession and in auditor reports.

The practice of auditing "reporting issuers", which generally means publicly listed corporations, has been a regulated industry in both Canada and the United States since 2003. Every auditor who issues an auditor's report on a Canadian reporting issuer after March 29, 2004 must be a participant in the oversight program of CPAB. Every auditor who issues an auditor's report on an entity that files financial statements with the SEC, and every auditor who otherwise plays a substantial role in an audit, must be registered with the PCAOB. For foreign audit firms the deadline for PCAOB registration was July 19, 2004.

Participation in the oversight program of CPAB and PCAOB registration requires the ongoing commitment of D+H Group LLP to technical knowledge and audit quality. Both regulatory authorities will, on a regular, periodic basis, inspect regulated auditing firms, including the systems of quality control and audit files of these firms.

Tax Services

The Tax Group is a solution provider to our clients' tax matters. D+H Group LLP recognizes the importance of providing technically competent tax advice to achieve significant tax savings and to preserve wealth. The Firm has a dedicated group of six, full-time Chartered Accountants. We keep current with innovative tax strategies and changes in tax legislation, that are critical to generating strategies to mitigate business risks and change our knowledge into value for our clients.

Our tax services include corporate and personal tax planning, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, estate and succession planning, cross-border tax planning, and assistance in complying with federal and provincial income taxes, Goods and Services Tax and other sales tax laws. We also provide advisory services in the formative stages of a business and in creatively structuring acquisitions and sales of existing businesses (including cross border) to ensure that tax consequences are fully considered.

Entrepreneur Group

Our Entrepreneur Group provides a full range of integrated services to entrepreneurial companies throughout all stages of their growth cycle. Our experienced D+H Group LLP team can address your business needs in:

  • Succession and estate planning
  • Tax planning (stock options, $ 500,000 small business capital gains exemption planning, scientific research and experimental development (SRED) tax credits)

IT Group (Information Technology Services)

Our IT Group can meet the hardware and software requirements of management information system needs for our client. D+H Group LLP has expertise in the installation and support of computer-based accounting and information systems providing clients with insightful and timely information with which to run their businesses more effectively.

Our team members include:

  • Four AccPac installers
  • A Novell and Windows NT certified engineer

Recently, we have installed over 40 turnkey computer systems of varying sizes including complex network systems.

We work on an ongoing basis with clients on systems analysis from the initial investigation to implementation of a computerized management information system and continue to address their ever-changing needs. By doing so, our clients are assured of having an information system which fulfils their needs and one in which they are trained to effectively use and understand. D+H Group LLP is able to determine whether your business warrants implementing or upgrading an existing computer accounting system, to recommend software and hardware for the system, to install the system, to train staff on the use of the system, and to provide ongoing technical support.

Family Business Group

Family businesses often have needs beyond financial statements. These businesses face issues such as corporate governance, family compensation, business succession, and wealth preservation. Many of these issues are addressed in the context of ratifying a shareholders' agreement. We have significant experience in gently guiding families through these potentially tumultuous issues with the long-term goals of the family members and their business in mind.

Valuation And Litigation Support Services
