Updated 2020 EHT Installment Due Dates

The B.C. Ministry of Finance recently announced extended installment payment due dates for 2020 Employer Health Tax (“EHT”) installments. This measure is intended to provide additional relief to employers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The due dates for the first and second installments, normally due on June 15 and September 15, were originally extended to September 30, 2020. However, employers with an installment requirement can now defer the installment payments to the following dates:

• First installment – December 31, 2020
• Second installment – January 31, 2021
• Third installment – February 28, 2021
• The final payment for 2020 EHT will be due on March 31, 2021, along with the 2020 EHT return.

Reminder – Filing and Payment Deadline for 2019 Employer Health Tax Returns

Employers are also reminded that the deadline to file 2019 Employer Health Tax returns is quickly approaching. The deadline to file 2019 EHT returns and remit the final balance of 2019 EHT was extended to September 30, 2020 as part of the B.C. Ministry of Finance’s COVID-19 Action Plan.
