CHECKING FOR YOUR CRA PERSONAL TAX INSTALMENT REMINDERS

The CRA has issued its instalment reminders for the September 15, 2026 and December 15, 2026 personal tax instalments.

Because of the CRA’s ongoing transition from paper mail to online mail, individual taxpayers (or their CRA representatives such as D&H Group LLP) may not receive these reminders in the mail.

If you haven’t already received your installment reminder for September and December, we recommend that you log in to your CRA My Account to retrieve your personal tax instalments reminder (if any) as soon as possible.

WHY YOU MAY NOT HAVE RECEIVED A PAPER INSTALMENT REMINDER

On July 3, 2025, the CRA began phasing out paper mail for certain individuals and transitioning them to online mail. For further details on this transition, please read our newsletter here.

Once the CRA transitions an individual to online mail:

  • The individual may no longer receive CRA correspondence by paper mail, including instalment reminders.
  • Their CRA authorized representative (such as D&H Group LLP) may no longer receive paper mail, even where the authorized representative’s address is the mailing address on file.
  • Further, the CRA will only notify the individual of when there is new email. There is no notification for the authorized representative. Accordingly, individuals must actively monitor their emails for CRA notifications and retrieve mail in a timely manner.

HOW TO CHANGE YOUR CRA CORRESPONDENCE PREFERENCE BACK TO PAPER MAIL

If you would prefer to receive your CRA mail by paper (or for CRA authorized representative to receive your CRA mail), you will need to change your CRA mail preference back to paper mail.

Step-by-step instructions are available here. The CRA does not allow an authorized representative to make this change on your behalf; the change must be made by the individual through their CRA account online.
